ORONO, Maine — The 10th annual Maine greenhouse best practices workshop will be held Thursday, March 23, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., at the Snell Family Farm, 1000 River Road, Buxton. The host site is a family farm that grew into a diversified business with eight greenhouses and extra hoophouses, incorporating a year-round farm store, pick-your-own and community supported agriculture (CSA), in addition to traditional greenhouse plant sales.
The workshop will include a tour of the farm’s greenhouses, with presentations on greenhouse enterprise planning and management, attracting pollinators, research updates and a growers’ panel. Sponsors are University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.
