UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Extension will offer a day of educational workshops and demonstrations on topics such as pesticide safety and manure management at the upcoming “Berks County Family Ag Safety Day,” which will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Reading Fairgrounds, 1216 Hilltop Road, Leesport.
This event is designed for farm families and pesticide applicators. Youth ages 5-18 are welcome with a parent in attendance.
Sessions will cover:
— Pesticide safety.
— Respirator fit testing.
— Manure management.
— Agricultural safety for adults and youth.
Demonstrations will include a grain bin rescue simulation and a manure spill clean-up demonstration. Participants can earn three core pesticide recertification credits and 1.5 manure-hauler credits.
Participants must register by 11:59 p.m. April 14. The $10 registration fee covers a barbeque luncheon.
