PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — You are invited to a series of pasture walks in partnership with Madison Area Technical College (MATC) at the teaching farm located at Fountain Prairie Farm, part of MATC’s new program titled Sustainable Farm to Table: Modern Meat Production, a one-year technical diploma. Read more about the program here.
The first of three walks is on Thursday, June 14, 2018, 9 am-12 pm, at 1901 WI-16, Fall River, WI, focused on Understanding the Design and Layout of Your System.
I will discuss the importance of planning and design of your grazing system. We will also hear from local NRCS and Conservation staff on programs available to assist farmers in the design of the system as well as cost sharing for the implementation of grazing management. Randy will wrap things up with a look at tools that producers can use to evaluate the profitability of grazing! A networking lunch will follow.
The cost is $40 for the general public and free for Southwest Badger sustaining members (learn more at http://www.swbadger.org/services.html#membership). All participants should register by June 8th by calling MATC at 608-258-2301 x 2.
