GHENT, N.Y. — The New York Beef Council, through support and funding from Federation Fund, hosted 27 social influencers at Trowbridge Farms in Ghent, NY for a four hour farm to fork tour.
Attendees travelled from all throughout the Capital Region to experience a “boots-on-the-ground” look into both the beef industry. Event attendees had the opportunity to tour “Trowbridge Farms and speak with owner Phil Trowbridge. Trowbridge Farms is a leading Angus operation in the state and guide Phil Trowbridge provided insight into animal health and care, nutrition, and environmental management at the facility. One tour attendee noted, “The event itself was terrific. We were BEEFed (Briefed, Educated, Entertained and Fed) throughout the afternoon, with opportunities to learn.. .”
The day was wrapped up with an on-farm steak dinner where attendees had the opportunity to meet with Phil’s wife, children and grandchildren. This meet-and-greet provided a great opportunity for deeper discussion and a generational prospective on how beef is raised.
After dinner, YELP event coordinator assisted Executive Director, Jean O’Toole with a Steak Grilling 101. Attendees learned about how to grill a steak to perfection and dispel steak cooking myths!
Overall the program received positive reviews from the YELP Elites “It was not only educational, it was a fun time! Learning where our food comes from and the people who work hard to make it all happen made for a great day.”
