ITHACA, N.Y. — The season of battling weeds and pests in the fields is coming to a close, and some local farmers are putting down their picks and shovels to pick up their axes and drum sticks to do battle onstage with the goal of raising money for a cause that’s close to them. Hopshire Farms and Brewery and NOFA-NY presents The Battle of the Farmer Bands.
5 bands, each featuring at least one local farmer, will compete for your adulation at this fun and unique fundraiser, hosted at one of Central New York’s most picturesque farmstead breweries. They may be battling it out onstage, but they’ll put that beef aside to support a common cause at this family friendly event.
Proceeds will support the Northeast Organic Farming Association of NY (NOFA-NY), New York’s leading non‐profit organization providing programs and services to promote sustainable, local organic food and farming. This event will also be the revival of the NOFA-NY CNY Regional Chapter.
Come join us for an evening of music, dancing, beer, a local food truck, and root for your favorite local farmer band while helping raise funds to support small organic farms across NY state. You’ll have the chance to support the cause with a donation at the door, a $1 donation from every Hopshire pint of beer sold, a raffle, a silent auction and more!
The Farmidable musical lineup playing all their salad gold hits includes:
The Local Farmers Union
Brookton Bridge
The 86ers
The Flywheels
Rot N Roll

NOFA-NY is an organization of farmers, gardeners, and consumers working together to create a sustainable regional food system that’s ecologically sound and economically viable. Through demonstration and education, we promote land stewardship, organic food production, and local marketing. We have been bringing consumers and farmers together to make high quality food available to all people since 1983.
Hopshire Farm & Brewery is operated by Diane Gerhart and Randy Lacey as a family owned business. We have combined our belief in New York agriculture, local foods and great beer into a brewery that will use as many local ingredients as possible to produce high quality beers of several styles. Our goal is to connect our customers with the ingredients in their beer and demonstrate the brewing process. Of course our beers will use New York hops but also look for locally grown cherries, raspberries, honey, maple syrup and other ingredients to be featured in our beers.
