CASSVILLE, Mo. — Are you looking to rapidly improve the genetic progress of your herd? Cattle producers interested in learning how to artificial inseminate have two hands on opportunities coming up in Southwest Missouri.
A team of livestock and dairy specialists with the University of Missouri – Extension will teach a three-day “Artificial Insemination for Cattle” course on Nov. 5-7 or Nov 19-21 at the University of Missouri Southwest Research Center at 14548 State Rd H, Mt Vernon.
Both classroom and hands-on practice of cattle insemination will create a friendly learning environment for all participants from any skill level. The three days will cover topics such as: anatomy and physiology, heat detection, estrus sync programs, repro tract dissection and nutrition’s role in reproduction.
Participants will have plenty of sleeve time, refining their skill with cattle. All insemination equipment and material will be provided during practice.
The cost of the class will be $350. Class size is limited to 12 students, with first paid first served enrollment.
