SCHUYLER CO., N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schuyler County’s Master Gardener Program will hold their Annual Plant Sale and Farmer’s Market, Saturday, June 19, from 10 am to 3 pm at the Hector Fireman’s Grounds, 5736 NY-414, Hector, NY 14841.

“This is the second year that we’ve combined our Plant Sale with the Farmer’s Market,” said CCE Schuyler Educator Roger Ort. “There isn’t a better spot for the public to find garden and orchard plants, tools, and great local foods all in one place.”

At the Plant Sale will be a choice selection of annuals, perennials, vegetables, fruiting plants, herbs, trellises, produce, tools, and pottery. The Farmer’s Market will offer some of our area’s best and healthiest foods. Some products donated by area businesses will also be for sale in support of the Master Gardener program. All proceeds benefit CCE Schuyler’s Master Gardener programming.

During the Plant Sale, the Hector Lions Club will be offering a Chicken BBQ.

Master Gardeners will be available throughout the day to provide advice on all your growing questions.

Master Gardeners receive instruction from experts at Cornell Cooperative Extension and elsewhere on a broad spectrum of subjects applicable to home gardening, such as plant nutrition, soils, vegetable and fruit culture, diseases and insects that affect plants, pruning, and much more. After certification, they serve as volunteers, teaching classes, answering questions, writing articles, and conducting other outreach.

For more information about the Plant Sale and Farmer’s Market or Master Gardeners, contact Roger Ort at (607) 535-7161 or on the web at www.cceschuyler.org.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schuyler County (CCE Schuyler) improves lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and knowledge to work. Extension staff and trained volunteers provide information on topics such as commercial and consumer agriculture, nutrition and health, youth and families, energy conservation, and sustainable natural resources, by delivering education programs, conducting applied research, and encouraging community and university collaborations. CCE Schuyler also operates Hidden Valley 4-H Camp.
