Special Assistant to President Trump will Headline Citrus Showcase Lunch
Just what is the President thinking? About agriculture that is. Perhaps there is no person more qualified to address this question than Ray Starling, Special Assistant to the President on Agriculture, Agricultural Trade, and Food Assistance. Starling will address a record-sized crowd at the annual Citrus Showcase Luncheon and offer some insight as to the Administration’s position on key subjects affecting the citrus industry and California agriculture including foreign trade, the fate of guest worker legislation, the USDA budget, and vital Farm Bill programs such as crop insurance.
Starling has a robust resume and long list of accolades, but none more valuable than his close connection to farming having grown up on his family’s farm in southeastern North Carolina where his parents and brother continue to farm. Starling is a relatable, “tell it like it is”, kind of guy and you can expect nothing less from his keynote address titled “A Perspective on Key Subjects Affecting the Citrus Industry and Agriculture”.
Tickets can be purchased for $40 by calling California Citrus Mutual at (559) 592-3790.
Starling may be available for media interviews following his keynote address, however, advanced notice is required. For this reason, members of the media are highly encouraged to RSVP in advance.

This panel will include Friant Water Authority CEO Jason Phillips, CCM Executive Vice President Casey Creamer, and CCM Director of Government Affairs Alyssa Houtby.
|10:00 – 11:00 a.m.||Workshop B – Food Safety: What’s Next from the State and Federal Perspective
Food Safety rules, regulations, and demands have become a major burden for the industry. The customer-base and regulatory agencies have created a conflicting body of needs that require audits and more paperwork for an industry that is 99% protective against food safety challenges without the rules. It appears that the state and federal governments are now on the same page which should reduce the pressures for marketers, shippers, and growers. How this will be achieved is the subject for this workshop.

She will then discuss new tactics that could be added to the grower repertoire to improve the program.
