HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture announced today that while Pennsylvania universities are moving to remote learning environments amid the COVID-19 outbreak, including Penn State University and University of Pennsylvania where two of Pennsylvania’s three animal diagnostic laboratories are located, the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory System remains open for normal services, pending any changes in COVID-19 spread.
“As Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we’re working closely with Governor Wolf to ensure vital services continue,” said Agriculture Secretary Redding. “Animal health and diagnostic testing is crucial for Pennsylvania agriculture to maintain a safe and secure food supply; so, our labs remain open and services remain available amidst changes at these universities.”
The move of Penn State University and University of Pennsylvania to remote classes does not currently affect operations at the Penn State Animal Diagnostic Laboratory or University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. Both remain open for normal business hours and services.
