DENVER — One year since the pandemic began, the great outdoors and grilling seem to be attracting people across the country. To help consumers put these passions to work and possibly win prizes, the American Lamb Board (ALB) has launched the American Lamb Outdoor Cooking Adventures promotional contest, which challenges consumers to showcase their outdoor cooking prowess with American Lamb.

In short, this Summer 2021 Lamb Checkoff promotion urges consumers to fire up, choose American Lamb and get entered to win grilling gear and other great prizes.

“American Lamb offers adventurous flavor that brings something special to everyday celebrations, not just the holidays, and it is so simple and delicious when cooked outside!” says Gwen Kitzan, ALB Chair. “We are excited to reward outdoor enthusiasts who love to cook with a contest that is all about embarking on an adventure in your own backyard with your grill, smoker or fire pit.”

A new consumer video contest is the cornerstone of the promotion. For this online contest, which runs May 1 to July 31, 2021, contestants must shoot a short video of themselves cooking American Lamb outdoors and submit it to ALB by July 31, 2021.  All videos must answer the following question: What do you love about outdoor adventures, and how does American Lamb add to your outdoor experiences?

All entries will be reviewed by ALB’s campaign judges, who include professional chefs, pit masters and other outdoor cooking experts. Anyone who enters the contest will receive grilling gear, including an American Lamb apron and a Thermoworks DASH™ meat thermometer. One winner from each category—Smoked, Grilled or Open Flame—will also win a $500 Cabela’s® gift card and $200 worth of American Lamb. Contestants can choose any recipe of their choice using American Lamb; the possibilities are endless and creativity is encouraged. The American Lamb consumer website is a great source for recipes, cut information and cooking tips. All the contest details and rules will be posted by May 1 to the consumer website events page.

For the American Lamb industry, such as producers, direct marketers and processors, logos, a new “sizzle” video, and other campaign resources will be on the Lamb Resource Center website. ALB is also in the final stages of a new recipe booklet to accompany the Outdoor Cooking Adventures theme.
