SYRACUSE, N.Y. — American Dairy Association North East recently facilitated a dairy farm tour for Amazon Fresh staff members to build the connection of how milk is produced to the dairy products they help sell through the e-commerce site. The relationship and tour with Amazon Fresh were initiated by Dairy Management Inc., the national dairy checkoff.
Jeff King of King Brothers Dairy and Neil Peck from Welcome Stock Farm, both in Schuylerville, N.Y., hosted the tours which provided the first-hand look at dairy farms and fostered one-on-one conversations to help build trust in dairy.
“It was rewarding to have the team from Amazon Fresh come to the farm, and they were all engaged and asked thoughtful questions,” said Jeff King. “We really felt like we were able to connect with them and impact their perception of dairy in a positive way.”
“Establishing trust in dairy with those who are helping market and sell the products is essential,” said ADA North East CEO John Chrisman. “And with more than 70 percent of U.S. households now buying groceries online, it’s absolutely critical that dairy secures its place in the e-commerce sector.”
ADA North East has expanded into e-commerce during the pandemic with half of all U.S. shoppers buying groceries online at least occasionally. In 2021, total online grocery sales reached $97.7 billion.
