WAYNESVILLE, N.C. — Join us on August 8 at 9 am for our annual Alternative Crops and Organics field day where we highlight the research we are conducting at the Mountain Research Station in Waynesville, NC. This year in the certified organic unit we will show you the multi-state organic tomato breeding project (TOMI), the organic tomato fungicide trial (also part of TOMI), the organic tomato late blight screening study for Vitalis Organic Seeds, the organic tomato variety trial for High Mowing Organic Seeds, and some of Randy Gardner‘s new lines. We will also visit the Eastern Broccoli projects tudy, the hops breeding study, the industrial hemp study, and the truffle study. The field tour part will take place from 9 to noon. Then, you are welcome to bring your own lunch and join us in the camp building (on the same property) for a discussion about growing industrial hemp. We will provide iced tea and water.
