SACRAMENTO — The economic benefits and environmental stewardship of the California almond industry will be showcased Tuesday, May 12 when the Almond Alliance of California hosts the 2020 Almond Festival at the State Capitol from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the West Steps.
“We want legislators and policy makers to see, feel and understand all of the components and complexities of the California almond industry, all the great things that come from almonds and the importance of sustainability and innovation to the industry,” said Almond Alliance President Elaine Trevino. The festival will showcase almond co-products, packaging, water efficiencies, bee health and the nutritional value of almonds.
“We had great participation last year from the almond community at our inaugural event,” noted Trevino. “Now that there is greater awareness of the Almond Festival, we again invite almond community members to highlight their products and services to a very influential audience.”
The industry’s innovations and efficiencies will be on display along with examples of how almond co-products such as hulls and shells are used in the marketplace. Booths representing almond processors and growers will feature an assortment of almond products including almonds, almond cookies, snacks, ice cream, almond milk and almond candy.
Information about exhibit booths is available by contacting Annie Romero at (209) 300-7140 or email aromero@almondalliance.org
