BROOKINGS, S.D. — SDSU Extension will host winter agronomy meetings in Mitchell, Sioux Falls and Yankton in January 2020.
All meetings will cover the following topics led by SDSU Extension staff and partners:
- Planning for Weed Control for 2020 – SDSU Extension Weed Science Coordinator Paul Johnson and SDSU Extension Weeds Field Specialist Gared Shaffer
- Dealing with Farm Stress – Assistant Professor and SDSU Extension Mental Health Specialist Dr. Andrea Bjornestad
- Will it be Another 2019? 2020 Climate Outlook – SDSU Extension State Climatologist Laura Edwards (Jan. 2, Jan. 21); Service Hydrologist for the National Weather Service Mike Gillispie (Jan. 13)
- The Bottom Line: Farm Financial Planning for 2020 – Program Director of the South Dakota Center for Farm/Ranch Management Will Walter (Jan. 2); SDSU Extension Crops Business Management Field Specialist Jack Davis (Jan. 13, Jan. 21)
- Boldly Go Where No Man has Gone Before: Planting on Prevent Plant Acres – SDSU Extension Crop Production Associate Jonathan Kleinjan
Additional details: To obtain or re-certify a private pesticide applicator license, applicators are required to attend from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. prior to each meeting. Those attending only the agronomy meeting are welcome to join beginning at 11:00 a.m. for the ‘Planning Weed Control for 2020’ presentation. Lunch will be served at noon for those staying for the afternoon presentations.

Yankton Agronomy Meeting
Date: January 21, 2020
Location: Jo Dean’s Restaurant (2809 Broadway Ave.)
Meeting Time: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
