GREENLAND, N.H. — 11th Annual NH Direct Marketing Conference, Monday, November 4, 2019 from noon – 5:30 p.m. at the Portsmouth Country Club, 80 Country Club Lane, Greenland, NH 03840.
Before inviting visitors to your agricultural operation for an authentic farm experience like picking berries, petting farm animals or savoring a meal with locally grown produce and meat, there are many factors to consider. “The NH Direct Marketing Conference will help you demystify the Agritourism buzzword. It will provide attendees with information about how to start or grow an Agritourism business,” says Nada Haddad, Food and Agriculture Field Specialist with University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension.
Registration starts at noon. NH Commissioner of Agriculture Shawn Jasper will kick off the conference with a presentation about what is or what is not considered Agritourism.
In the afternoon a slate of speakers will cover the following topics: creating tourist – oriented directional and attraction signs, promoting agriculture events and goods in NH and beyond, working with local government to support your farm, and reducing liability risk when visitors come to your farm. Participants will hear about the latest UNH local food distribution research and from a panel of growers including Jeremiah Vernon of Vernon Farm in Newfields, NH and Craig Thompson and Sarah Heffron of Mayfair Farm in Harrisville, NH.
Registration is $30 per person by October 28 and after that date it will be $35 per person. Afternoon refreshments are included in the registration.
