QUEENSTOWN, Md. — The Maryland Grain Producers Association (MGPA) is utilizing checkoff dollars from the Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board to support our 2020 scholarship program. Students residing in Maryland and studying in agriculturally related fields are eligible to receive one of the four $2,500 scholarships being offered!
Evan Miles, President of Maryland Grain Producers Association, feels it is important to support students working on furthering their education in agriculture. “As a graduate from the University of Delaware, I know that expanding your knowledge to benefit your family farm or to become an important professional in an agribusiness, is crucial in today’s ever changing industry.”
Students working towards a degree in agriculture are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to a 4-year or 2-year institution. Applicants or the applicants’ immediate family must be involved in the production of grain in Maryland, must be a member of the Maryland Grain Producers Association, and not received a checkoff refund in the past twelve months.
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial support to students interested in pursuing an agricultural related career and give back to grain farming families in Maryland. The Maryland Grain Producers Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipients from applications with all identifying information redacted.
The award will be presented at the Maryland Commodity Classic, Thursday, July 23, 2020 at the Queen Anne’s 4-H Park on Rt. 18 between Queenstown and Centreville. MGPA must receive your application by May 1st for consideration. An electronic version of the application and more information can be found at www.marylandgrain.org.
Applications are accepted by mail or email and can be sent to 123 Clay Drive, Queenstown, MD 21658 or to jenell.mdag@gmail.com. If you have any questions, please call: 443-262-8491.
