ALBANY — The Agriculture & NYS Horse Breeding Development Fund is proud to announce three public listening sessions to solicit feedback regarding the continued success of standardbred racing in New York. Governor Kathy Hochul directed the Fund “to review the program and provide … any recommended changes.”
Beginning in March, the Fund is inviting standardbred industry stakeholders and interested members of the public to attend the sessions and provide input that will help guide decisions for the overall success of the program.
The public listening sessions are being held as follows:
- March 16, 2023 1–4 pm at the Harness Racing Hall of Fame and Museum, Goshen, NY
- March 23, 2023 1–4 pm at Vernon Downs Casino & Hotel, Vernon, NY
- March 30, 2023 11 am–2 pm at Saratoga Casino Hotel, Saratoga Springs, NY
The sessions are free and open to the public. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP within 24 hours of a session by emailing info@nysirestakes.com. Those looking to submit materials for discussion should also contact the above email address as soon as possible.

About the Agriculture & NYS Horse Breeding Development Fund: The Agriculture & NYS Horse Breeding Development Fund is a public benefit corporation established in 1965 by the Laverne Law (Laws of New York, Chapter 567 of the Laws of 1965). The mission of the fund is to promote agriculture through the breeding of Standardbred horses and the conduct of equine research within the state. To carry out its legislative mission, the Fund administers the New York Sire Stakes races, Excelsior/State Fair Series races, and County Fair Races.
