ABILENE, Texas — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be presenting the award-winning Ranchers Agricultural Leasing Workshop in Abilene on March 31. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office for Taylor County at 1982 Lytle Way.
The cost is $50 per person and includes lunch. Preregistration is required for the Land Leasing Workshop online or by calling Valerie Lehman at 979-845-2604. Sponsors include Ag Workers Insurance and Capital Farm Credit.
Expert speakers will be Tiffany Dowell Lashmet, AgriLife Extension agricultural law specialist, Amarillo, and Greg Kaase, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension agricultural economist and risk management specialist, College Station.
All participants will receive their own copy of the Ranchers’ Agricultural Leasing Handbook, co-authored by Lashmet, which contains checklists and sample lease language.
“The workshop will cover grazing, hunting and livestock leases,” said Lashmet. “There will also be time for participants to ask us questions pertaining to the legal and economic concerns surrounding land leases.”
Over 1,200 Texans have attended a Land Leasing Workshop to date. 100% of these attendees reported they would recommend this program to a friend. One attendee surveyed stated the information learned at the workshop saved hundreds of hours of research time and thousands of dollars in costs.
