CURTIS, Neb. — Aggie athletes with the Shotgun Sports Team at the Nebraska College of Technical are headed to their fourth match of the season this Saturday and Sunday.
They will compete at the Heartland Shooting Park in Grand Island as Hastings College hosts the contest.
Last weekend the NCTA traveled to Brainard. Concordia College hosted its contest at Oak Creek Sporting Clays.
“Thanks to Concordia College for a wonderful meet. Things went well in this all-sporting clay meet,” said Coach Alan Taylor. “The NCTA team continues to improve with each competition.”
“Colby Mitchell of Burwell led the team with a score of 244 of 300 targets. Colby is really making his mark in his freshman year and will continue to be a great asset to the NCTA shooting team,” Taylor said.
Scott Taylor of Curtis had a personal best on sporting clay with a score of 73. David Jelken, Hastings, and Trevor Kuhn, Omaha, are solid leaders helping the new team members be their best, Taylor added.
The NCTA Aggies hosted the Prairie Circuit Conference Sept. 27-29 at the Lincoln County Wildlife and Gun Club. Ten colleges attended with 146 shooters from Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma.
The Aggies were second place in the two-year college division with Connors State College of Warner, Oklahoma taking first in junior colleges.
High overall teams were first, Fort Hays State University in Kansas; second, Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska; and Connors State College. High Overall Freshman was Logan Smith of Fort Hays, and High Overall Freshman Female was Vanessa Trimmer of Hastings College.
Remaining matches are Oct. 12-13, Hastings College at Grand Island Heartland Shooting Park; Oct. 19-20, Colorado State University RamVitational, Brighton; and Nov. 2-3: ACUI Clay Shoot, Heartland Shooting Park.
