FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Energy industry leaders from across the country recently visited Colorado State University to see the university’s agriculture-energy ecosystem taking root.
It was all part of the first Ag-Energy Field Day on July 11, in which energy industry leaders visited campus and learned about CSU research.
The field day capped the 10th annual Energy Innovation Summit in Denver, hosted by the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). The Fort Collins field day featured tours of several key campus facilities. Representatives from New York Power Authority, California Energy Commission, Oxford and ARPA-E were among the attendees.
ARPA-E, part of the U.S. Department of Energy, invests in innovative ideas to solve challenges related to energy. Many CSU programs partner with ARPA-E, including the Energy Institute’s Methane Emissions Testing and Evaluation Center (METEC).
The field day began at the Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center (ARDEC), followed by a lunch seminar featuring Energy Institute Executive Director Bryan Willson – also a keynote speaker at the ARPA-E summit. Tours of the METEC facility followed, as well as networking at New Belgium Brewing.
