URBANA, Ill. — The largest recruitment event hosted by the University of Illinois College of ACES, Explore ACES, was held on March 10 and 11. Explore ACES was created for students, by students with the hopes of showcasing the variety of opportunities available through the college. Throughout the event, students have the chance to interact with faculty, learn about the over $2 million in scholarships available, interact with current students, and explore the 10 undergraduate majors with 40 concentrations.
Megan Vogt, Ag Education junior.A committee of 11 students organizes the annual event. Many committee members attended Explore ACES as a prospective student, and have attempted to create an event that is friendly, comfortable, inviting and truly showcases the College of ACES atmosphere. This year, the Agricultural Education department had five students serve on the planning committee. Abby Marten (Steering Committee Co-Chair), Kaity Spangler (Co-Director of External Publicity) Maggi Maxstadt (Co-Director of Internal Publicity), Harley Carlson (Departmental Liaison), and Jerry Brockett (Departmental Liaison) all brought their specific skills to the committee and helped the event run smoothly. The department also had many students who volunteered their time throughout the event.
