IOWA FALLS, Iowa — ISU Extension & Outreach’s Annual Ag Chemical Dealer Update Meeting will be held December 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Quality Inn & Suites Starlite Village, located at 13th St and Dayton Ave. in Ames. Updates on the latest crop production products and recommendations are the featured topics. “This meeting is intended to keep ag retailers informed on new research or products pertaining to diseases, insects, weeds, and crop nutrition,” said Meaghan Anderson, field agronomist with ISU Extension and Outreach. The Ames Ag Chemical Dealer Update qualifies for Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) continuing education credits, and provides recertification for calendar year 2019 for Commercial Pesticide Applicators in categories 1A, 1B, 1C, and 10. “This event is an opportunity for ag retailers and farmers, who may be unable to attend the Integrated Crop Management Conference, to still hear new, research-based information and complete their commercial pesticide applicator recertification,” said Angie Rieck-Hinz, field agronomist with ISU Extension and Outreach. Some of the topics on the agenda for the Ames Ag Chemical Dealer Update include insect, crop disease and weed management updates, and managing consequences of unavoidable soil compaction.
Early registration is $70 if received by midnight, Dec. 11. Late or on-site registration is $85. If you’re unable to attend the Ames Ag Chemical Dealer Update, an additional meeting will take place in Coralville the day prior, Dec 17.
