MILLBROOK, N.Y. – The Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County (CCEDC) Environment and Energy Program is hosting a forum for residents about affordable home energy improvements through NYSERDA’s Empower and Home Performance with Energy Star Programs. The forum will be on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center in Poughkeepsie (317 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY). Certificates of attendance for municipal training credit will be provided.
Through NYSERDA’s Empower and Home Performance with Energy Star Programs, residents can obtain free energy assessments by reputable contractors and receive discounts on home energy improvements (for low to moderate income residents). The forum will include an overview of these programs by RUPCO, a constituency-based organization, which works with residents, not-for-profits, and small businesses to facilitate their participation in energy efficiency programs. Additionally, local contractors will discuss how the energy assessment process works and common problems and cost-effective solutions related to air sealing, insulation, and heating/cooling systems. Homeowners will also speak about their experiences with the Empower or Home Performance with Energy Star Programs. A question and answer session will follow.
All residents interested in learning more about how to affordably make your home more energy efficient, and the financial and environmental benefits, are invited to join us.
The forum is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. Register online at: https://affordable-home-energy-improvements.eventbrite.com. For more information, contact: Erica Blatt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
