JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Clint Stephens of Advance, Mo., steps into the role of Missouri Corn Merchandising Council (MCMC) chairman effective Oct. 1. Elected during the organization’s August board meeting, Stephens succeeded Jay Schutte of Benton City, Mo.
Stephens previously served the state’s growers as MCMC treasurer as well as Missouri Corn Growers Association vice president and secretary/treasurer. Stephens also represents corn farmers nationally, serving on the National Corn Growers Association Production Technology Access Action Team.
“We’re working hard each day to build opportunities for corn farmers,” noted Stephens. “In the year ahead, we know exports are going to be important and will continue to work with our partners at the national level to expand market access, meet with foreign buyers, and showcase the quality of U.S. corn and corn co-products. Living near the river, exports have always been vital to growers in my area, and we look forward to seeing what opportunities open this year.”
Stephens continued, “In addition, Missouri Corn is looking at ways for growers to build ethanol infrastructure, participate in researching carbon markets, support our friends in the livestock industry, and help share corn education to consumers and students alike. As we look at the year ahead, I’d like to congratulate Jay for a job well done and look forward to working alongside him as he leads the Missouri Corn Growers Association.”
The MCMC board of directors is comprised of 14 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer board was formed in 1984 with the passage of a corn checkoff and is committed to market development, research, and education. To learn more about the corn industry in Missouri, visit www.mocorn.org.
