WASHINGTON (AgPR) — United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue recently announced that the Trump Administration has reached an agreement with the government of South Korea on market access for U.S. rice.
American Agri-Women (AAW) President Karolyn Zurn issued the following statement:
“American Agri-Women commends the Trump Administration on achieving increased market access for U.S. rice in South Korea, providing U.S. rice farmers with an opportunity to sell their product into a growing market.
“The agreement guarantees U.S. rice producers the largest volume of market share for rice into South Korea, with an annual value of approximately $110 million. The health of the U.S. farm economy, as well as the stability of global food supply, hinge on the successful negotiation of such agreements and we are proud to supply the highest quality rice to our new trade partner. AAW looks forward to continuing to work with U.S. Trade Representative Lighthizer and Secretary Perdue on opening even more trade opportunities for our farmers and ranchers.”
