BROOMFIELD, Colo. — As the year winds down, I’m finding myself reflecting on all we’ve accomplished together. For me, one of the most rewarding experiences in 2019 was meeting hundreds of dedicated ag producers on my listening tour that, along with presentations, conferences, and other events, has taken me to nearly every Colorado county. I’ve been fortunate to hear your stories, see your operations first hand, and learn how the Colorado Department of Agriculture can support your success. I’m looking forward to meeting more of you in the coming year.
Collectively, our staff at CDA has achieved so many successes this year, including the rollout of the Ag Workforce Development Program with over 20 paid apprentices placed on ag operations, launching our CHAMP Initiative, partnering with Adams State University to research agricultural applications for blockchain, prioritizing farmer-led renewable energy development through our ACRE3 Program, putting new investments into our Organics Program, creating a Soil Health Initiative, launching a CDA Laboratory Youth Outreach Program, bolstering our mental health awareness initiative–and many, many more successes too numerous to list here.
I am proud to work alongside such a talented team and I’m grateful to work in agriculture, as I know you are. I wish you a happy and fulfilling holiday season. Thank you for supporting Colorado agriculture.
