ALBANY — A delegation representing 4-H members in New York State traveled to Albany May 19-21, 2019 for the 84th annual 4-H Capital Days event. Nearly 100 teen delegates and their chaperones participated in the conference. Representing Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County were 4-H member Amanda Thrasher of Troy and Eileen DePaula, 4-H Program Coordinator.
During this year’s event, 4-H members, volunteer leaders, and staff met with leaders in state government, members of the court system, and officials from a variety of state agencies. In addition, they observed a working session of the legislature, toured the New York State Capitol Building, and had the opportunity to speak with their representatives. The Rensselaer County delegates had the opportunity to meet with Senator Daphne Jordan and Assemblyman Jake Ashby. At the closing ceremony, New York State Lieutenant Governor, Kathy Hochul addressed the delegates.
The New York State 4-H Capital Days event was sponsored by the New York State Association of Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Educators.
