BOISE, Idaho — Join the Society for Range Management (SRM) for their 76th Annual Meeting in Boise, Idaho where the theme “Rangelands Without Borders” depicts a schedule of events which offers something for everyone – from ranchers, to students, to range professionals. For five days, from February 12 – 16, 2023, the world’s rangelands will be the topic of conversation around downtown Boise thanks to the presenting sponsors, United States Forest Service (USFS) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The schedule is packed with educational workshops, technical tours, awards ceremonies, and committee meetings in which direction is set for the Society’s year ahead.
For range managers and ranchers, workshop and symposia topics like range sheep production, virtual fencing systems, and wolf-livestock conflict management will offer unique perspectives and ideas to implement on the range. Ranchers may be interested to learn more about invasive annual grasses management, targeted grazing, or the up-and-coming carbon market and its application in the ag industry.
Students will have chances to network with professionals from a wide realm of rangeland careers and partake in a job fair where agencies like the Forest Service and BLM will have multiple employment opportunities available. Much anticipated student competitions will build up excitement for the final session where awardees are honored for their hard work and dedication to the field.
All attendees will enjoy plenty of time for networking and socializing during events like the trade show mixer lunch and Section socials one evening. For those interested in getting outside and exploring more of Boise, tours include stops such as the World Center for Birds of Prey or a “Conception to Consumer” tour with a visit to a local ranch and beef processing facility.
This year, for first time SRM Annual Meeting attendees or new SRM members, a welcome reception has been added to the schedule on Sunday evening before the week of “Rangelands Without Borders” kicks into high gear. Those attending the reception can anticipate gleaning more from their Annual Meeting experience by making connections upon arrival in
Boise.
Once again, there will be a virtual meeting platform for those who cannot attend in person. All sessions will be live streamed on the virtual meeting website and app as they occur in Boise so virtual participants can ask questions of speakers and interact during workshops.
The deadline for virtual registration is February 9. Online, pre-registration for the in-person event is now closed, but onsite registration will be accepted each day of the Annual Meeting.
