URBANA, Ill. — The Illinois Purebred Dairy Cattle Association will be sponsoring their 70th PDCA Dairy Calf sale on Saturday April 7, 2018 at the Champaign County Fairgrounds in Urbana, IL. This sale provides an excellent opportunity for 4-H, FFA, and Jr. dairy breed members to purchase outstanding dairy project animals. In addition, cattle can be purchased by anyone wanting to begin or add to their dairy herd. A special feature this year includes a youth training session for the Superior Young Dairy Producer program which will start at 11:00 a.m. Also the PDCA will again have several donated gifts to be given away to youth buyers via a drawing at the end of the sale. Only youth members who purchase animals in the sale will have their names included in the drawing.
The sale cattle have been selected from some of the top dairy herds throughout Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin featuring the latest in dairy cattle genetics. This sale will offer 50 head of high quality dairy heifers from all breeds including: 4 Ayrshires; 3 Brown Swiss; 1 Guernsey; 27 Holsteins; 6 Milking Shorthorn; and 9 Jerseys. Sale cattle will be ready for inspection on Saturday April 7 at 8:00 a.m. and the sale will begin at 12:30 p.m., following the SYDPA youth training at 11:00 a.m. and the PDCA meeting at noon. Lunch will be available at the sale.
