BUFFALO, N.Y. — Dear Food System Stakeholders,

On behalf of the Food Policy Council of Buffalo and Erie County (FPC), we are excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for 5 open seats on the Council.

Background
The FPC was created in May 2013 as a sub-commission of the Erie County Board of Health. Our mission is to build and strengthen a sustainable and just regional food system through policy recommendations, awareness and education. Under Erie County’s Board of Health, the FPC also serves as an advisory body to provide local governments, businesses and residents information and advice about various policies and programs that support a local community-based food system. The Council is comprised of a hybrid of appointed and stakeholder seats. For further information on our Council composition, please see our operating principles, which can be found on our website, erie.gov/fpc.

Council Seats
The Council currently meets 6 times per year, typically after standard working hours. All members are expected to attend meetings, barring an unavoidable conflict. In addition, we require council members to serve on a working group of their choosing, which typically meet outside of standard council meetings, at the discretion of the working group.

Working Groups
Working groups are comprised of FPC members, as well as the general public. Presently we have four working groups: healthy food retail, procurement, urban food production, and education policy.

How to Apply
If you’re interested in affecting positive change in the Buffalo and Erie County food system, and feel that you can add value and perspective to the Council, please consider applying. Applications are currently being accepted until November 30, 2017. Please send a copy of your resume to FPC@erie.gov and fill out and submit the form below.

We are excited to begin 2018 with every seat filled! In the event that you still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kelly Fletcher, at FPC@erie.govor call 716.858.4752.
