KEOKUK, Iowa — On August 21, 2017, a solar eclipse will cross the continental United States. In Iowa, people will be able to experience a partial eclipse with more than 90% of the Sun in the Moon’s shadow. It is truly an historic event and a wonderful opportunity to view one of nature’s most stunning displays.
Iowa 4-H and the Iowa Space Consortium have partnered to provide Solar Eclipse Day Camps throughout the state.
ISU Extension and Outreach and the Keokuk Public Library are offering a Solar Eclipse Day Camp for grades 4th-6th at the Keokuk Public Library, August 21, 2017 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. You DO NOT need to be a 4-H member to attend. This day of activities includes: making Sun S’mores; making an Eclipse Viewer; creating mirrors; chalk art; an edible model of the Sun; and, of course, viewing the Solar Eclipse.
Space is limited, so please register by calling ISU Extension at 319-835-5116 or the Keokuk Public Library at 319-524-1483.
