CAYUGA CO., N.Y. — Are you a kid that loves to cook? Parents do you have a child with an interest in the culinary world. Check out the Cayuga County 4-H Produced in New York Cooking Event.
4-H Produced in New York (PiNY) is designed to give youth an opportunity to learn about and use a wide variety of agricultural products that are produced right in New York State. PiNY is a silent demonstration that helps youth build confidence in demonstrating their knowledge of their food preparation skills while promoting a flavorful recipe featuring New York State food products. During PINY program, individual 4-H members (Cloverbuds too!) do a “silent demonstration” concurrently with several of their peers. This style of demonstrating allows the younger 4-H members to build confidence and increase their comfort in front of an audience while older members can focus on conquering more complicated recipes. The PiNY program is a great way for all 4-H members to acquire new skills, techniques, and build confidence while increasing their knowledge of food handling and preparation in the form of a public presentation.
Join senior 4-H member, Katie Dristle and the 4-H staff for a fun, informative workshop at the NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center in Auburn. Learn about recipe selection, how to prepare before the demonstration and evaluation criteria.
This workshop is open to all youth age 5-18 interested in learning more about the the Produced in New York culinary event. PiNY participants must become Cayuga County 4-H members prior to actual competition held in January. For more information about joining 4-H, click HERE.
