WEST CHESTER, Pa. — Penn State Extension 4-H and Master Gardener programs in conjunction with Historic Waynesborough are launching a new and exciting program for children. We will be forming a 4-H Junior Master Gardener club targeting homeschool youth on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon, starting May 6 and running through the growing season until Sept. 30.
The program will have the children learning about gardening, composting, botany and identification of plants and insects and much more. There will be artistic components with journaling, natural plant dyes and natural printmaking. We will also be able to learn about the historic property that was once owned by the family of a Revolutionary general, Anthony Wayne.
The program is limited to 18 youth and will be filled on a first come first serve basis. The club is ideally for children ages 8 to 12 years of age. Meeting will be both inside and outside so prepare to get dirty. The club enrollment fee $60, $25 of which is the annual 4-H membership fee which will provide youth other 4-H opportunities.
Please contact the Penn State Extension office at 610-696-3500 or email tmm113@psu.edu for more details or to be added to the registration list. Enrollment details will be shared with families in April.
The program is still looking for additional adult volunteers. All volunteers go the Penn State clearance process. To learn more about volunteer opportunities please contact Toni Stuetz at 610-696-3500 or tmm113@psu.edu.
