ST. PAUL, Minn. — The University of Minnesota Extension, 4-H Youth Development program proudly announces the 2023 4-H/FFA Crop Scouting event. This event will happen on July 25 on the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus.
This unique opportunity challenges 4-H and FFA members in areas such as: Corn and Soybean Growth Stages, Weed Id, Insect Id, Cover Crop Identification, Pesticide Label reading. Field Diagnosis, and Plant Pathology. Stations are evaluated by University of Minnesota and Industry staff and professionals.
Youth participating in this event learn agronomy related content, teambuilding skills, problem solving skills and a closer look at potential education and careers. Adults coaches and mentors help prepare the youth to participate in this event. Prizes are award to top placing teams. The top two teams have the opportunity to represent Minnesota at the National Youth Crop scouting event. This year will take place in Mede, Nebraska.
