DODGE CITY, Kan. — After the recent natural disasters the area faced in March with wildfires and again in April with a blizzard, public awareness and emergency preparedness has remained in the spotlight. CodeRED is a public alerting system recently deployed in Ford County, Kansas. It has a profoundly wide reach and allows first responders to quickly and effectively communicate critical emergency and non-emergency information to the public. Elliot Linke, Emergency Communications Director for Ford County, will discuss what this means for residents of and visitors to Ford County and how they can stay informed. This informative program will take place on Friday, October 13, at 11:00 a.m. during the 63rd Annual 3i SHOW at the Western State Bank Expo Center.
CodeRED has been battle-tested and is relied upon to deliver critical communication to thousands of clients across North America, including more than 15 statewide implementations. Residents of Ford County are encouraged to sign up for the Code Red system at www.fordcounty.net. When signing up, residents will have options to receive alerts by voice, text, e-mail and RSS feeds.
Along with explaining the CodeRED system, Mr. Linke will discuss a tiered approach to help residents and their family members abreast of emergencies that may affect where they live and work and how to be prepared for them.
