WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. — Foraging Ahead: The GrassWorks Grazing Conference, now in its 31st year, will be held Feb. 2-4, 2023, at the Chula Vista Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
This event is a unique gathering of seasoned and new graziers learning alongside and from each other. Attendees have many opportunities to network and discuss their operations and techniques peer-to-peer during breaks, social times, banquets, and music along with over 30 breakout sessions focused on grazing management. It really is a celebration of grazing!
Expert graziers and professionals integral to GrassWorks goals for advancing education about grass-based agriculture will be providing excellent sessions with topics including animal health, handling and selection, soil fertility in pastures, overwintering strategies, farm finances and technology in the pastures.
Jason Cavadini will kick-off the conference with “The Future of Grazing.” Featured speakers are varied. Dan Kittredge – Bio-Nutrient Food Association, will talk about the connection between nutrient variations in beef to management, genetics, soil, forage, and the microbiome. Alan J. Franzluebbers, Ph.D. USDA – Ag Research Service, will talk about soil fertility including predicting soil nitrogen availability and ability to manage portions of soil carbon. Inga Witscher – St. Isidore’s Dairy Farmstead Cheese, will walk participants through the cheese-making process with on-farm fresh milk.
Thursday night entertainment is Michael Perry — author, humorist, playwright and radio show host from New Auburn, Wis.
