WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. — While helping farmers recover from disasters, Jason Rowntree realized his life’s work would be developing systems to increase the resilience of food production worldwide. As an associate professor of Animal Science at Michigan State University, he has studied how grazing livestock can improve land and mitigate climate change by capturing carbon and providing other ecosystem services.
Rowntree will join five other nationally known experts to share research and experience at the 30th Annual GrassWorks Grazing Conference, January 20-22 in the Wisconsin Dells. This information-packed event is an invaluable opportunity for new, experienced or retiring farmers to learn the many sides of transitioning to or supporting a grass-based system.
The five national experts featured at this year’s 2.5-day event will highlight the ways managed grazing systems are resilient and a positive decision for farmers. These experienced producers showcase the diversity of options and bright future for the grazing industry.

Along with the research based information, there will be experienced farmers, researchers, veterinarians and industry reps sharing their expertise in over 38 workshops and from the 30+ booth exhibit hall. Workshop topics varying from Beef Finishing, handling drought to Setting up NO fence and much more, allow producers to explore specific issues that can enhance success on their grazing operations.
