BARTOW, Fla. — The Ridge Beekeepers Association in conjunction with UF/IFAS Extension Polk County invites you to participate in the “2023 Ridge Beekeepers Association Beekeeping Seminar.” This educational event will be held on April 08, 2023, at the UF/IFAS Extension Polk County office located at 1702 S Holland Pkwy, Bartow, FL 33830 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. (Registration will start at 8:00 am)
This family-friendly event will provide participants with essential information on how to start as a beekeeper. Topics will include starting a hive, hive construction, looking inside the hive, beekeeping tools, bee transportation, queen bees, nectary sources, wax rendering, and common pests and diseases. This is the perfect opportunity if you are planning on becoming a beekeeper or just want to know more about honey bees and their importance to Agriculture and the Environment. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Registration cost is $40.00 for adults, $25.00 for ages 11 and 18, and ages 10 and under are free with adult supervision.
