ORISKANY, N.Y. — Even with mother nature forcing a date change the 2023 Regional Horse Bonanza at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Lewis County Office was a success for Oneida County 4-H Members. The Regional Horse Bonanza consisted of Horse Bowl and Hippology. Horse Bowl is a horse knowledge contest in a quid bowl format. Hippology is to give youth an opportunity to learn and demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of horse management through a written exam, stations slides and horse judging.
Senior Lanelle Vile, Port Leyden, joined an Onondaga County Senior Team where they placed 2nd overall in Horse Bowl and 1st Overall in Hippology. Lanelle placed 8th in Horse Bowl and 7th in Hippology. Oneida County had the only two Junior Teams, so they took 1st and 2nd place for Horse Bowl and Hippology!
