KEENE, N.H. — Join the Monadnock Farm and Community Coalition (MFCC) and New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) for a free, online event, “2022 Stories from the Field: Celebrating our Local Food System in Words” on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 6:30pm to 7:35pm. In a similar style to The Moth storytelling hour, local folks in the region who grow, educate about, eat, and distribute locally grown food will share personal stories about their connections to our food system.
Six storytellers combined with live music will assure a night full of fun, laughter, and maybe a tear or two at this family-friendly celebration. Kate McNally, host of NHPR’s “The Folk Show” will emcee the event.
“Two years ago and in the middle of the pandemic, the need for community connection was overwhelming to all of us at MFCC. We decided to go to the “stars” of the local food system for help – our farmers after all, who can spin a yarn better than a farmer?” says Roe-Ann Tasoulas, director of MFCC. “Our first event was a huge success, so much so that NHPR re-adapted the event into a one-hour presentation and broadcasted it several times. We are thankful to work with NHPR again so that as many NH residents as possible can enjoy this light-hearted, insightful, and sometimes moving event,” continues Tasoulas.
Storytellers include Lincoln Geiger of Temple-Wilton Community Farm, Melinda Mosier of NH Charitable Foundation, Gene Jonas, farmer of Hungry Bear Farm in Mason, Ward Ogden of Food Connects, Jess Gerrior, PhD Candidate at Antioch NE University and a participant in a Monadnock food access program.
