CARLISLE, Pa. — Youth ages 6-12 are invited to join the Penn State Master Gardeners of Cumberland County for the Gardening with Nature Workshop: Plant a Pollinator Container for Youth on Saturday, June 11, 1:00-3:00pm, at the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library located at 100 N. 19th Street in Camp Hill.

Youth will plant a container garden with nectar and larval host plants to attract butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. Youth will learn how to properly plant a container garden, what pollinators are and their importance, and which plants are best for attracting butterflies and other pollinating insects. Each youth will create their own pollinator container garden with a 14-inch container, potting soil, and a set of nectar and larval host plants including parsley, pentas, lantana, and other flowering annuals and herbs.

The registration fee is $20.00 per youth, $10.00 for each additional youth in the same family. The registration fee covers all supplies and materials. Registration is limited to 20 youth. The registration deadline is Saturday, June 4, 2022. Register online at https://extension.psu.edu/gardening-with-nature-plant-a-pollinator-container-for-youth or call Penn State Extension Registration Services toll-free at 1-877-345-0691. A parent or guardian is required to attend with the registered youth for the duration of the workshop. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
