BELMONT, N.Y. — On Wednesday, July 20th the Allegany County Fair held the Youth Dairy Show. This year’s show opened with meet and greet with the judge, Courtney Charlesworth from Cattaraugus, NY.
Beginning the show with Intermediate Showmanship, Morgan Holcomb from Friendship, NY was first in class followed by Natalie Burrows, and Shaelynn Eddy both from Cuba, NY with blue ribbons; first red award to Jim Eshelman from Scio, NY followed by Abigail Morton and Riley Blarr of Belmont, NY.
Moving into the Senior Showmanship division 1st blue to Taylor Brokaw Friendship NY, and 2nd blue to Halayna Eddy Cuba, NY.
For the Novice division topping the class was Huntar Hint Friendship NY, also receiving blue ribbons Grant Bell Bolivar NY.
In our Junior Showmanship division Bentley Foster Friendship NY, and Ben Eshelman Scio NY received a blue.
Winners in Junior, Intermediate and Senior division received a halter sponsored by Zane Covert, Novice received halter sponsored by the Allegany County Pomona Grange. The top 2 from each division competed for Master Showmanship. This year’s winner Natalie Burrows received a director’s chair sponsored by The York Agency, Lester York. Reserve Master Showmanship, Morgan Holcomb received a backpack award from the Lyman family.
Four participants in Cloverbub Showman this year, open to youth 5-7 years old. Tinsley Foster, Lily Morton, Lynn Morton, and Aubrey Tavano received a participation ribbon and a bucket of supplies sponsored by Wild Geese Farm and the Allegany County Farm Bureau.

We want to thank our judge, Courtney Charlesworth for her giving valuable encouragement and feedback to the participants. A graduate of Alfred State College where she participated in the judging team. Courtney raises and shows primarily Ayrshires and currently is employed as the calf and heifer manager at Bainbridge Farm in West Almond, NY.
