2022 Allegany County Fair Youth Beef Show Results

Tuesday, July 19th youth exhibitors showed off their beef projects at the Allegany County Fair. The contest is a culmination of a year plus of hard work caring for and training their animals.
In the Senior Showmanship division, Madison Morehouse with a first-place finish received a blue ribbon along with a tote bag sponsored by Burch Family Dentist; Kadin Pierce second and Ethan Cole also received blue ribbons.
For the Junior Showmanship Sarah Wilson topped the class followed by Luke Wilson, Jeffery Wilson, Emma Bolzan, Huntar Hint and Shane Ploetz all receiving blue ribbons. Sarah received a bag sponsored In Memory of Sarah Beiler.
Garret Ploetz received a blue ribbon and show harness awarded from Skyview for the Novice Division. Cloverbud, Beverly Ploetz received a participation ribbon.
The top from each division competed for Grand Champion Showman. This year’s winner Sarah Wilson received chair sponsored by Mark & Lorraine Stone Fillmore, NY. Reserve Grand Champion Showman, Luke Wilson received tote bag sponsored by Burch Family Dentist.
Following the showmanship market classes were held starting with the Dairy Steer exhibited by Huntar Hint and feeder steer exhibited by Madison Morehouse both receiving blue awards.
Heavy Weight Beef Steer with 2 blue ribbons winners exhibited by Kadin Pierce and Sarah Wilson. In the Medium Weight Division receiving blue ribbon Kadin Pierce, Luke Wilson, Jeffery Wilson, and Shane Ploetz. Both enters in the Lightweight Division exhibited by Shane Ploetz and Ethan Cole received blues.
Grand Champion Market Beef was awarded to the medium weight steer exhibited by Kadin Pierce. The Reserve Grand Champion Market beef was awarded to exhibited by Kadin Pierce for his lightweight steer. He received an award banner of each sponsored by Burch Family Dentist
In the breeding beef division, an excellent group of blue-ribbon stock exhibited by Emma Bolzan, Kadin Pierce, Garrett Ploetz, Shane Ploetz, Jeffery Wilson, Luke Wilson, and Sarah Wilson. Grand Champion Female, sponsored in Burch Family Dentist, chair awarded to Shane Ploetz. Reserve Grand Champion Female, sponsored Burch Family Dentist, tote bag awarded to Sarah Wilson. Grand Champion Bull awarded Emma Bolzan and Reserve Grand Champion Bull exhibited by Shane Ploetz. Both bull awards sponsored by Burch Family Dentist.
This year’s judge for the show was Len Ando from Centerville, NY. Owner of Twin Pines Farm, raising Registered Hereford Cattle. In addition to running and operating a 20 cow herd with his family, Len also shows at the local, state and national level.
Youth shows at the fair are one of many programs offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County (CCE-Allegany).
