HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — Because of the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and the speed of wide-spread vaccination, the face-to-face Southeastern Apple Growers meeting in January 2021 will need to be “reformatted” out of concern for members, attendees, and speakers. What we are going to do is “reformat” the Southeastern Apple growers meeting this year using shorter length Zoom sessions to provide education as well as 1-hour pesticide recertification credit for each session.
We limit these to two hours for each one and include University as well as grower input and will title them “Apple Bites”. We would also like to try to keep them as interactive as possible providing these as a Zoom call and closely monitoring the chat function for questions.
We would like for the first one to be on Thursday, February 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. During this session we will address some of the NC Apple Growers organizational issues, a grower panel on the state of the apple industry and trends, and also include disease and weed management updates.
We will follow-up with another session on March 18 and address thinning as well as insect management and other needs identified by the members. Free online registration information is required and detailed program agenda will be provided 2 weeks before each program.
