WINTER PARK, Colo. — The Colorado Ag Water Summit will take place on December 9-10, 2021 at The Headwaters Center in Winter Park, CO. The address is 730 Baker Dr, Winter Park, CO 80482. On Thursday, there will be a pre-conference event for agricultural producers to discuss state and federal funding for infrastructure. The Thursday programming will hopefully include a virtual roundtable with Senator Bennet and Senator Hickenlooper to discuss federal funding for water resources and how to build partnerships across partisan lines. Thursday will wrap up with a panel on anti-speculation of water in Colorado.
On Friday, there will be panels discussing how the agricultural community can advance water storage. There will be a presentation and discussion on voter’s views of funding the water plan in Colorado and a panel discussion on working with other stakeholder groups to implement water projects and improve infrastructure. We will also discuss the potentials and pitfalls of ballot measures aimed at specifically funding water resources.
We will finish Friday’s program with a presentation on the Colorado River Compact and upcoming negotiations by John McClow, the General Counsel of the Upper Gunnison Water Conservancy District. Mr. McClow has served as Colorado’s Commissioner on the Upper Colorado River Commission and Colorado representation to negotiations among the Colorado River Basin States, the United States, and Mexico.
