ARDMORE, Okla. — The 2020 Profiles and Perspectives Community Enrichment Series will take attendees on a journey to explore Oklahoma and the world — all from the comfort of their homes.
This year’s speaker presentations will be live online seminars. Both talks are offered at no cost courtesy of The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation.
The first speaker will be award-winning journalist, book critic and staff writer for The New York Times Magazine Sam Anderson. Anderson, who penned the book Boom Town, will present, “Oklahoma From the Outside In” from 7-8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 6.
Anderson will share his brilliant, kaleidoscopic narrative of Oklahoma City — a great American story of civics, basketball and destiny. He offers a remarkable look at the urban tapestry woven from control and chaos, sports and civics. His journalism and essays have won numerous awards, including the National Magazine Award for Essays and Criticism.
National Geographic photographer Vincent Musi will present “Where the Wild Things Live” from 7-8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10. For more than 25 years, Musi has photographed diverse subjects — from traveling Route 66 to global warming, life under volcanoes, illegal immigration, and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He gets up close to his subjects, despite the fact that they growl, bark, roar, hiss, claw and pee on him.
