WATERLOO, Iowa — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach – Black Hawk County and the Black Hawk County Master Gardeners are working with the Cedar Falls Public Library, LaPorte City Hawkin’s Library, and the Waterloo Public Library to present a new 2020 Gardening Series. Local Master Gardeners and growing experts will present live classes on a variety of gardening and growing topics. Residents and groups from surrounding communities are encouraged to attend. Free gardening seeds will be provided to those who attend.
Gardening Series classes are FREE and open to the public. There is no pre-registration and the public may attend as many or few classes as they wish as these class topics are presented as individual units. Classes start at 6:30 pm and run for about 1 hour with time for questions and answers afterward.
Planting for Plenty of Pollinators – Steven Eilers, Urban Agriculturalist and Master Gardener of Black Hawk County Extension on Tuesday, April 7th at the Cedar Falls Public Library, Thursday, April 2nd at the Waterloo Public Library, or Tuesday, April 28th at the LaPorte City Hawkin’s Library.
Vermiculture – We Have Worms! – Using worms to compost your kitchen scraps and create fertilizer. Shelly Smith, Executive Director and Master Gardener of Black Hawk County Extension on Thursday, April 9th at the Waterloo Public Library or Tuesday, April 21st at the Cedar Falls Public Library
Landscaping: Let Nature be Your Guide – Julie Evenson, Landscape Architect and Master Gardener is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14th at the LaPorte City Hawkin’s Library, Thursday, April 16th at the Waterloo Public Library or Tuesday, April 28th at the Cedar Falls Public Library.
What’s New in Flowers for 2020 – Heidi Tietz-DeSilva – Petersen & Tietz Greenhouse is Tuesday, May 5th at the Cedar Falls Public Library or Thursday, May 5th at the Waterloo Public Library.
