ITHACA, N.Y. — The Tompkins County Tourism Program, in collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County and the Ithaca/Tompkins Convention & Visitors Bureau will host the 2019 Agriculinary Tourism Conference on Tuesday, March 5th at The Hotel Ithaca, located at 222 S. Cayuga Street in Ithaca, NY. Registration begins at 8:30am with programs running from 9:00am-4:00pm, followed by a tasting/social hour. The focus of this annual conference is on helping farm and food venues build relationships and develop new initiatives to attract visitors and to grow revenue. Conference registration is $50/person and includes lunch.
This year’s conference features keynote speakers Mindy and Oskar Vizcarro of Becker Farms and Vizcarro Vineyards, located east of Buffalo, NY who will discuss how their farm evolved to become a full-service agriculinary tourism destination. Attendees next may choose from concurrent morning panels on “Farm to Table Cuisine: Creating Successful Farmer-Chef Relationships” or “Hosting Private Events at Your Business: Challenges and Opportunities”. After lunch, two concurrent panels will be offered on “Digging Deeper: Seed-to-Table” and “Providing Overnight Accommodations at Your Business”. The day’s presentations will conclude with a general session on “How to Market Your Agriculinary Tourism Business” featuring Dr. Cory Young, Associate Professor of Strategic Communication at Ithaca College. A social hour follows from 4:00-5:00pm.
