OTISVILLE, N.Y. — On Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County (CCEOC) will be holding its fourth annual Bountiful Harvest Celebration. The celebration will feature an evening of good old-fashioned fun at CCEOC’s Education Center and 4-H Park in Otisville. Festivities include carriage rides, a sumptuous dinner made from locally-sourced favorites by Catherine’s of Goshen, and the highlight event – a celebrity cow milking contest. All proceeds from the event will support the continued development at this new site.
As part of Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County’s Bountiful Harvest Celebration, local celebrity cow milkers representing service clubs in Orange County will compete against one another in a friendly cow milking challenge. The celebrities have three minutes to show their talent in hand milking a cow. All six celebrities are also collecting donations for CCEOC in a friendly “wagering” of pledges that accompany the contest. Celebrity milkers include: Wanda Cruz of the Middletown Lions, Peter Ewanciw of Minisink Kiwanis, Ed Fairweather of Otisville Lions, Scott Hamel of Wallkill East Rotary, Peter Lazier of Middletown Rotary, and Ronald Leal of Middletown Kiwanis.
“Bountiful Harvest 2018 is special this year because we are partnering with local service clubs,” said Lucy Joyce, Executive Director of CCEOC. “Our celebrity cow milkers are taking time out of their busy schedules to join us for cow milking training, drumming up donations on our behalf, and are getting up close and personal with a cow, all to help us raise much-needed funds as we work toward the completion of our Education Center and 4-H Park. The Education Center and 4-H Park will serve as a great resource for Orange County residents of all ages. We truly appreciate their efforts and look forward to another great event,” Joyce added.
This year, the planning committee for the Bountiful Harvest Celebration is chaired by Maggie Smith President & CEO of First Federal Savings of Middletown and Terry Saturno, Former President of Orange Bank & Trust. In addition, Walden Savings Bank serves as a Blue Ribbon sponsor of the Bountiful Harvest Celebration for 2018.
The new Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County Education Center and 4-H Park is located at 300 Finchville Turnpike, Otisville. Please note that tickets are required for this event.
