ALLEGANY CO., N.Y. — On Wednesday, July 18th the Allegany County Fair held the Youth Dairy Show. The contest is a culmination of months of hard work and training of dairy animals for exhibition by 4-H and FFA members.
This year’s show opened with meet and greet with the judge followed up with a presentation by Cuba-Rushford FFA and Friendship Everlasting 4-H members of memorial bench in honor of Tom Parmenter in recognition of his 18+ years serving as youth program educator.
Junior Showmanship, Morgan Holcomb first in class receiving blue ribbon, Natalie Burrows second with red ribbon awarded.
Intermediate Showmanship 1st blue Taylor Brokaw, 1st red Halana Eddy and 2nd red awarded to Abigail Morton.

There were four participants in the novice divisions which is for first year exhibitors; receiving 1st blue Maddison Morehouse, 2nd blue Emma Bolzan with red ribbons awarded to Shane Ploetz and Riley Blarr.
Winners in each division received a halter sponsored by SAPUTO. The top 2 from each divisions competed for Master Showmanship. This year’s winner Emily Lyman received a director’s chair sponsored by Birds-All Dairy. Reserve Master Showmanship, Jennifer Burrows received a plaque and cash award from Jefferds Enterprises.
There were also 2 Clover Bub Showman, open to youth 5-7 years old, Ben Eshelman and Bentley Foster received participation awards sponsored by Wild Geese Farm.

Top place finishers for Allegany County in the dairy judging contest senior Emily Lyman received a trophy sponsored by Val Dale Farms of Friendship, NY and junior Gianna Loiacono trophy from Country Crossroads Feed & Seeds.
This year’s judge for the show and judging contest was Chris Curtiss from Attica, NY; a professional cattle fitter for 15 years traveling across the US, Canada, Europe and South America. He provided positive feedback and tips for youth as he places classes throughout the day. Congratulations to all the youth on a successful show.
